A truck with a Shelli Shaw sticker came speeding through our neighborhood of privately-funded roads with a 15-mph speed limit. The driver came roaring by my dog, and I even thought we were both as far on the side of the road as we could get. I gestured to slow down, and when that didn’t happen, I flipped off the driver.

The driver got so insulted by my exercise of my First Amendment rights, the truck screeched to a stop, then backed up toward me.

The driver stalked me by continuing to back up alongside even as I did not look that way. I continued walking up the road to where I could seek shelter at a neighbor's house. Then the driver yelled at me before gunning the truck and speeding toward a steep, blind hairpin turn.

Apparently, Shaw represents the kinds of men who like to harass single women when they're walking alone. And the kinds of drivers who think they're above the law and that speed limits were meant for everyone else. It's odd that MAGA Trumpists like her can't understand why mainstream, law-abiding, Americans view them as a threat to our personal safety.
