San Juan Mining & Reclamation Conference seeks proposals for talks, field trips, discussions

San Juan Mining & Reclamation Conference is seeking abstracts for the 11th annual conference. Deadline for submissions is Sunday.

The conference, “Solving Pandora’s Box: The Application of Arts and Humanities to the Challenges of Mining and Reclamation,” will take place from Sept. 22 to Sept. 24 at Sheridan Opera House and other locations in Telluride.

Proposals may be submitted for talks, posters, roundtable discussions and field trips to support the themes of this year’s event:

  • Art, design and other value-added services in project design: viewing reclamation as more than just a scientific problem.
  • Engaging local communities: collaboration and public-private partnerships in mining and reclamation planning and design.
  • Art installations and historic structure preservation: preserving the past and building towards the future.
  • New opportunities: nontraditional funding sources and uses of mining materials.
  • Looking for keys to Pandora’s box: solving future challenges.
