Sage Hen saga too typical of government

In response to the story about the Dolores Ranger District restroom removal (Journal, Nov. 20), a few thoughts come to mind.

First, working taxpayers paid to design and construct the Sage Hen Campgrounds, including the roads, barbecue grills and the restroom. Second, about 10 years ago, these same taxpayers paid to “dismantle” the Sage Hen Campgrounds. Third, the taxpayers will now be required to pay for the removal of the Sage Hen restroom.

This chain of events does not represent a particularly wise disbursement of public funds. The bottom line is, unfortunately, all too familiar: Entrusting local public resources to federal bureaucrats — who possess their own personal, career and professional agendas — is probably not the most clever way to manage these resources.
