River Talk Nights hopping in Dolores

Railroad Avenue may seem quiet when the streetlights turn on. That's because everyone has places to be!

Prime Rib Night

Thursday is prime rib night at Sophia's Bistro! I have heard that Chef Daniel Rossiter's prime rib is delicious - flavorful and served with freshly steamed vegetables and mashed potatoes. He cooks a variety of other mouthwatering food as well, including seafood. Sometimes there's live music. The Porch Lights played there last weekend. The view out the window is beautiful, especially at this time of year with flowers in the yard and the La Platas in the distance. Now imagine that bathed in evening light. Call 970-882-4920 to reserve your spot. Dinner is served Thursday through Saturday, with a Happy Hour from 4-6 p.m.

Pool at the Riverfront

Riverfront is the place to be on Wednesday nights. Especially if you like playing lots of pool, eating good pizza, being near the river, and visiting with friendly faces. The whole place gives off a warm, welcoming vibe. Combine that with a little friendly nine ball pool competition and you've got a great place to be every Wednesday night.

First-, second-, and third-place winners of each game go on to the finals for the evening. Sign up starts at 6 p.m., and the games start at 6:30. There is an entry fee of $6 per person. It sounds like fun! The restaurant has a Beach Party day coming up too, serving seafood Saturday, July 18. It's no wonder that Riverfront is spoken highly about.

Escalante Days Coming Fast

There is less than a month until the 39th annual Escalante Days on Aug. 7 and 8. The theme is "Coming Home," which is very fitting as this year is the all-school reunion. All school reunions only happen once every five years. Over 1,000 alumni have been invited to attend. Whether you're an alumni or not, don't forget to sign up for the 17th Annual Bike race. Early registration is open until Aug. 6.
