As a longtime atheist I have, nonetheless, become inured to the never-ending exhortations of deities to bless the United States, the troops, victims of tragedy, etc., from the mouths of presidents, congresspeople, pundits and country/western singers. Such are meaningless but usually harmless utterances. Different philosophies can coexist. But the current, toxic movement of the Republican Party toward authoritarian Christian nationalism (read racist white nationalism) is a clear and present danger to the country.

Lauren Boebert is a vociferous advocate of this violent movement and must be removed from the U.S. House of Representatives. Adam Frisch will provide a rational perspective for the Third Congressional District and one that I support. I hope that our neighbors to the north and east of La Plata County can reconsider their votes in November and replace the embarrassing Boebert.
