Sanjiv Doreswamy will be joining the Region 9 Economic Development District of Southwest Colorado (Region 9) as a new business loan development officer.

Doreswamy has experience in commercial lending, business mentoring, New Market Tax Credits and a variety of federal funding agencies. He has a master’s degree in public administration from the University of New Mexico and a bachelor’s in commerce and business administration from the University of Alabama.

Laura Lewis Marchino, executive director of Region 9, said, “We believe Sanjiv will be instrumental in building our loan capital, marketing to area banks and making contact with clients.”

“I am excited to be part of the southwest Colorado community,” Doreswamy said.

The Region 9 Business Loan Fund program provides “gap” financing to support job creation and retention in La Plata, Archuleta, Montezuma, Dolores and San Juan counties. In addition to larger loans of $100,000 or more, Region 9 provides micro-loans to small business and entrepreneurs that can include up to $5,000 in grants for technical assistance.
