The Farmington Police Department is investigating an early morning shooting in the 400 block of West 24th Street.

Police were called to a woman’s home at 3:30 a.m. June 18, in response to a shooting. The woman told police her former boyfriend had been shot.

When they arrived, the man told police he was driving looking for his former girlfriend near Jaycee Park, when another vehicle drove in front of him.

The driver “stuck their hands out the window like they wanted to fight,” the man told police, adding the vehicle came to a stop and two individuals got out. The victim also exited his vehicle and walked toward the suspects, according to police Public Information Officer Shanice Gonzales.

“The passenger started started shooting at him,” she said. “He was shot in the right leg near the bottom left side of his kneecap.”

The victim got back in his car and drove to the woman’s house. When he was interviewed by police he provided a location for the shooting, but he could not describe the suspects of their vehicle.

“The victim's vehicle had multiple bullet holes on the fender, driver door, and other parts,” Gonzales said.
