Pueblo Community College Southwest will offer a free battlebot summer workshop and drone workshop for middle and high school students starting at the end of June.
The battlebot workshop will be held from June 26 through June 28, and the drone workshop will be held from July 17 through July 19 at PCC’s STEM Center on its Mancos campus, 33057 U.S. Highway 160.
The first program is designed to provide hands-on experience in designing, building and programming battlebots.
Participants will work in teams to create their own battlebots, learning key STEM concepts through practical application. The workshop will end with a competition where students will pit their creations against one another in a battlebot fight.
In the drone program, students will learn to fly drones to receive their recreational certification at the end. They will also be able to make a mini film with a drone.
The workshop is open to all middle and high school students at no cost. Registration is required and can be completed online for the battlebot program at bit.ly/battlebot-camp and drone program at bit.ly/drone-school. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged to secure a spot.
