Durango Police Department officers in tactical gear surrounded and entered a home Sunday evening in the 1900 block of Forest Avenue.
Multiple police vehicles – including armored trucks – were parked on the street in front of 1911 Forest Ave. Residents were asked to avoid the area in a DPD Facebook post at 6 p.m.
“There is no known threat to the broader community, however we are limiting access out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of everyone involved,” the DPD Facebook post said.
The post did not disclose why officers surrounded and entered the home, stating that it was an ongoing investigation.
About 6:30 p.m., multiple armed officers lined up outside the home’s door. Shortly afterward, the door opened from inside and officers streamed into the residence.
At 7 p.m., another group of armed officers searched inside and under a trailer parked next to the residence. At 7:08 p.m., officers exited the home.
At 7:30 p.m., DPD updated its Facebook post, giving residents the all-clear to return to the area. The post again said there was no known threat to the broader community.
As of Monday afternoon, DPD had not provided any new information about the operation. The investigation remains ongoing.
