Saturday, Sept. 30

12:48 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 200 block of South Madison Street on two warrants for failure to appear on local felony charges.

2:30 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the 500 block of East Second Street on suspicion of criminal mischief and domestic violence after police responded to a report that she had slashed the tires on a vehicle belonging to her boyfriend.

11:24 p.m.: A man turned himself in at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., and was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor charge after police asked him to leave City Park due to the late hour. He was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to severe intoxication.

11:58 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 900 block of Brookside Drive on suspicion of violating a restraining order after the woman who had the order against him reported he was in her house. He was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to severe intoxication.

Sunday, Oct. 1

12:19 p.m.: Police responded to a report of found property at Lotsa Pasta, 1020 S. Broadway. Restaurant employees claimed they had found a green backpack containing prescription pill bottles under a tree near the parking lot. An open envelope in the backpack was addressed to someone in Shiprock, but responding officers were unable to find or contact the person immediately.

1:17 p.m.: Two men were arrested outside City Market, 508 E. Main St., on suspicion of shoplifting after store employees claimed they had stolen a case of beer and multiple large cans of beer. Store employees also claimed at least one of the men had stolen beer the day before as well. Both suspects were medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to severe intoxication.

2:32 p.m.: A woman was arrested at Little Bear Trading Post, 720 E. Main St., on a warrant for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor charge. She was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to apparent intoxication after she refused to take a breath test.

6:51 p.m.: A woman was issued a summons at City market, 508 E. Main St., on suspicion of shoplifting after store employees claimed she had tried to steal chimichangas, a package of cheese and a pack of beer by concealing them in her bag.

8:07 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the 400 block of West Fifth Street on suspicion of criminal mischief and domestic violence after police responded to a report of a disturbance in the area. The woman’s sister claimed the woman’s boyfriend had thrown her by the hair and she had kicked the walls in their residence. The woman reportedly had a black eye and a swollen lip, which she claimed were self-inflicted. Responding officers reportedly found several holes in the walls of the couple’s residence, as well as a broken mirror.

9:02 p.m.: Police responded to a report of found property at the Chevron gas station. An employee claimed a customer had given her a Chromebook as a “gift,” and it seemed suspicious to her. The device had not been reported as stolen.

11:50 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 400 block of North Roger Smith Avenue on suspicion of DUI, DUI per se and prohibited use of a weapon after police pulled him over because his vehicle matched the description of one used in a hit-and-run crash. A loaded revolver was found under the vehicle’s center console. The victim of the hit-and-run was not able to identify the vehicle as the one that hit them. The man was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to severe intoxication.

Monday, Oct. 2

4:43 p.m.: Police responded to a report of theft at Montezuma-Cortez High School, 418 S. Sligo St. A student claimed someone had stolen his headphones, valued at $300, from his locker sometime between 1:55 and 6 p.m. on Sept. 28. He also said his locker had been slightly damaged. The case remains under investigation.

Tuesday, Oct. 3

10:26 a.m.: A man was served with a warrant for failure to appear on a La Plata County misdemeanor charge at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

1:21 p.m.: A woman turned herself in at the Cortez Police Department, 608 N. Park St., and was arrested on three warrants for failure to appear on local misdemeanor charges. She was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to severe intoxication.

11:33 p.m.: A man was arrested outside Mesa Verde Inn, 640 S. Broadway, on suspicion of driving under restraint and failing to provide proof of insurance.
