7:55 a.m.: An officer responded to the Pinon Project, 210 E. Main St., Cortez, for a trespass. A man previously banned from the property was contacted and issued a citation for trespassing and escorted off the property.
11:36 a.m.: An officer responded to St. Margaret Mary’s Catholic Church, 28 E. Montezuma Ave., Cortez, for a trespassing complaint. Surveillance video showed a man previously banned from the property remaining overnight. The man was later located at the Pinon Project Day Center. He was issued a citation for trespassing.
5:26 p.m.: An officer responded to a two-vehicle crash near the Cortez Police Department, 855 E. Empire St., Cortez. A woman driving with two juveniles inside struck another vehicle. The woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI and child abuse.
8:39 p.m.: An officer responded to a residence on East Second Street, Cortez, in the Cortez Mobile Home Park for a noise complaint involving children. A woman restrained by a protection order was found in contact with the protected party at the residence. She was arrested on suspicion of violation of a protection order and bond conditions.
1:56 p.m.: An officer located a woman with a warrant at the Cortez Public Library, 202 N. Park St., Cortez. She was arrested.
2:38 p.m.: An officer responded to City Market, 508 E. Main St., Cortez, for a report of shoplifting of a bottle of wine. A man matching the description was later located nearby. He also had a warrant for carrying a concealed weapon. He was arrested on the warrant and on suspicion of theft and obstruction.
3:14 p.m.: An officer at Veterans Park, 830 E. Main St., Cortez, observed a man flip a park bench, causing another man to fall. When the second man allegedly advanced aggressively and produced a pocketknife while threatening the first, the officer took the knife and arrested the second man on suspicion of felony menacing and obstruction. The first man was issued a permanent ban from city parks.
7:59 p.m.: An officer assisted on a traffic stop of a vehicle on North Madison St., Cortez. The driver was arrested on the warrant and issued a citation for driving while revoked, no proof of insurance and a headlamp violation.
11:18 p.m.: An officer responded to a motorist assist at North Park Street and East Main Street, Cortez. A man with a motorcycle was arrested on suspicion of DUI. He was issued a citation for DUI, DUI per se and obstructing a public roadway and released to a sober party.
1:35 a.m.: An officer on patrol near the Salvation Army Thrift Store, 201 Pinon Drive, Cortez, contacted a woman going through a dumpster who had a warrant. She was arrested on the warrant and on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance.
10:45 a.m.: An officer responded to a disturbance near East Seventh Street and South Market Street, Cortez. A man who had swung at a vehicle and was acting aggressively was arrested on suspicion of disturbing the peace.
1:32 p.m.: An officer contacted a woman with an unleashed dog at Hibbett Sports, 215 S. Sligo St., Cortez. Circumstances suggested a possible drug transaction. A container with a white crystalline substance consistent with methamphetamine was found. The woman was issued a citation for possession of methamphetamine.
2:36 p.m.: An officer responded to a report of an intoxicated subject in the alley behind the Methodist Thrift Shop and Burger Boy area, 444 E. Main St., Cortez. A man was arrested on suspicion of open container.
3:25 p.m.: An officer responded to the Pinon Project, 210 E. Main St., Cortez, for a report of a subject allegedly defecating on the front steps. A woman with an open container refused to leave and was arrested on suspicion of trespassing.
10:14 p.m.: An officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 25000 block of County Road H after reports of intoxicated driving with a juvenile and observed lane violations. The male driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI, driving while suspended, no proof of insurance, failure to drive in a single lane, child abuse and reckless endangerment.
8:27 a.m.: An officer observed a woman previously banned from City Market, 508 E. Main St., Cortez, walking through the parking lot. She was issued a citation for trespassing.
9:38 a.m.: An officer contacted a man at 444 E. Main St., Cortez, and later learned he had a warrant. The man was arrested on the warrant.
11:55 a.m.: An officer observed two men at Centennial Park, 800 E. Montezuma Ave., Cortez. Both had prior bans from city parks and were issued citations for trespassing.
12:12 p.m.: An officer responded to a report of a fight at City Market, 508 E. Main St., Cortez. One man had fresh injuries and broken glasses. A witness reported another man punched him. The second man was arrested on suspicion of disturbing the peace and open container. The injured man was arrested on suspicion of violation of a protection order that prohibits alcohol.
5:15 p.m.: An officer responded to a residence on South Elm Street, Cortez, for a report of theft of a purse containing money, cards, a phone and keys. Video showed a man leaving with the purse. The man, who was restrained from the property, was located in Mancos and arrested on suspicion of theft.
11:08 p.m.: An officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle after reports of intoxicated driving. The male driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
11:26 p.m.: An officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle after observing lane violations. The male driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI and failure to maintain a lane.
3:15 a.m.: An officer responded to City Market, 508 E. Main St., Cortez, for reports of men sleeping near entrances. One man previously banned from the store was issued a citation for trespassing after being asked to leave.
10:57 a.m.: An officer responded to Handy Mart, 806 S. Broadway, Cortez, for a trespass. A man previously issued an indefinite ban was contacted and issued a citation for trespassing.
4:23 p.m.: An officer assisted with a shoplifting call at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., Cortez. A woman allegedly took multiple items valued at $142.94. She was issued a citation for shoplifting along with a permanent ban from the store.
10 p.m.: An officer responded to Giant, 2320 E. Main St., Cortez, for a disturbance. A man allegedly admitted to breaking a truck window during an argument and was arrested on suspicion of criminal mischief.
11:39 a.m.: An officer responded to St. Margaret Mary’s Catholic Church, 28 E. Montezuma Ave., Cortez, for a trespass. Video showed a man previously banned from the property on the grounds multiple times. He was later located and issued a citation for trespassing.
7:17 p.m.: An officer observed a man urinating on the sidewalk near North Harrison and East Montezuma Avenue, Cortez. While issuing a citation for indecent exposure, another man allegedly refused repeated orders to leave and interfered. The second man was arrested on suspicion of interfering with an officer.
8:44 p.m.: An officer responded to the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., Cortez, where a woman turned herself in on a warrant.
12:32 p.m.: An officer responded to Veterans Park, 830 E. Main St., Cortez, for a disturbance. Two people claimed a third person assaulted them. A witness said the pair initiated the confrontation by throwing food. One man had a restraining order prohibiting contact with the woman and was arrested on suspicion of violation of a restraining order. The woman was issued a citation for disorderly conduct and criminal mischief and banned from city parks.
12:40 p.m.: An officer responded near Ziggi’s and Safeway for a man dodging traffic. The man had a warrant and was arrested.
2:50 p.m.: An officer responded to the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., Cortez, and served a man a warrant.
9:44 p.m.: An officer responded to a residence on South Harrison Street, Cortez, for a report of an intoxicated man on a porch. The man was arrested on suspicion of disturbing the peace, resisting arrest and trespassing.
