Thursday, Feb. 8

3:24 a.m. An officer responded to a report of an unwanted person, resulting in a woman being arrested on suspicion of trespassing in the 1700 block of Brooke St.

2:49 a.m. An officer cited a man with failure to display valid registration, failing to provide proof of insurance, driving without a valid driver’s license, and vehicle had defective license plate lamp in the 1500 block of Montelores Ave.

7:42 a.m. An officer responded to a report of property damage in the 1200 block of Chestnut St. for a damaged fence.

11:05 a.m. An officer took a report for internet fraud in the 600 block of E. Empire St.

1:09 p.m. An officer responded to a disturbance call in the 1100 block of Montelores Ave., a man was arrested on suspicion of felony menacing, property damage, and third-degree trespassing.

Friday, Feb. 9

6:35 a.m. An officer took a report for a hit-and -run in the 1000 block of Cochita St.

7:57 a.m. An officer took a report for vehicle damage in the 800 block of Brookside Drive.

9:38 a.m. A man in the 1600 block of Macarthur Ave. reported a vehicle break-in. Video surveillance showed a person digging in his truck, taking a bag of his belongings and a trailer wiring adapter, a Harbor Freight air bag vehicle lift system, a Milwaukee drill and a bottle of liquor.

1:49 p.m. An officer took a report for a vehicle break-in within the 200 block of S. Sligo St. from two men. One man was missing his gear backpack, which held his .45 caliber handgun, ammunition and cash from his paycheck. The other man reported his Coleman lunchbox with his specialty screwdrivers and lunch were taken.

6:33 p.m. A woman was arrested on suspicion of violating a trespass order from the Aneth Lodge, 645 E. Main St.

6:58 p.m. A man was arrested at The Bridge Emergency Shelter, 735 N. Park St., on suspicion of violating a protection order that states he shall not possess or consume alcohol.

Saturday, Feb. 10

12:18 a.m. An officer who observed a vehicle driving through the Angel Zone parking lot and then onto the 700 block of North Broadway without a proper stop arrested a man on suspicion of DUI, with a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.08 or more, careless driving, and open container of alcohol in vehicle

3:29 a.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of violating a protection order that states he shall not possess or consume alcohol and for a felony warrant outside of the Fiesta Theater, 23 W. Main St.

6:55 p.m. An officer took a report for a shoplifting incident at Safeway, 1580 E. Main St., after $427.64 worth of groceries and other merchandise was reported stolen.

11:48 p.m. A woman was arrested on suspicion of obstructing an officer in the lobby of the Cortez Police Department, 608 N. Park St. The woman allegedly verbally assaulted a peace officer, then threw a cupcake and swung at the officer.

Sunday, Feb. 11

10:08 a.m. An officer took a report for a vehicle crash involving two women at McDonald’s, 1322 E. Main St. Both women were cited with failure to present proof of insurance and careless driving.

4:58 p.m. An officer took a report for a hit-and-run at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St.

Monday, Feb. 12

1:11 a.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of violating a protection order that states he shall not possess or consume alcohol at Denny’s, 2059 E. Main St.

11:09 a.m. An officer took a report for a suspicious vehicle that was reported to have been driving recklessly in the 400 block of S. Maple St.

4:09 p.m. A man was arrested on a warrant and cited with possession of alcohol in a park and open container at Veteran’s Park, 830 E. Main St.

3:24 p.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of second-degree burglary and theft when an report of a shoplifting incident was made at City Market, 508 E. Main St.

3:21 p.m. An officer cited a man with trespassing at Conoco, 302 W. Main St.

6:58 p.m. An officer took a report from a woman about a missing license plate from her vehicle in the 400 block of S. Sligo St.

9:45 p.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of disturbing the peace, shoplifting, resisting arrest/obstructing and officer at Burger Boy, 400 E. Main St.

10:47 p.m. A woman who reportedly was throwing rocks at people, cars, and the Aneth Lodge, 645 E. Main St. was arrested on suspicion of trespassing and disturbing the peace.

Tuesday, Feb. 13

1:24 a.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of violating a protection order that states he shall not possess or consume alcohol and domestic violence at the Sleeping Ute Apartments, 516 S. Madison St.

3:09 a.m. An officer arrested a man turning himself over to the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., on two warrants.

Wednesday, Feb. 14

2:37 p.m. A woman who allegedly bit an officer and threatened employees of Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault on a peace officer, second-degree burglary, felony menacing, misdemeanor menacing, obstructing a peace officer and resisting arrest.

3:41 p.m. A highly intoxicated man who claimed he was looking for his girlfriend was yelling outside of the Cortez Recreation Center, 425 N. Roger Smith Ave., was arrested on a warrant.

4:22 p.m. An officer responded to a report that a crowd of people were fighting in Veterans Park, 802 E. Main St. The officer discovered the report to be unfounded as the group was just playfully wrestling and giggling. During the investigation of the report, dispatch notified the officer that two of the men who the officer made contact with had active warrants, both men were arrested and placed into custody without incident.

8:59 p.m. A highly intoxicate woman was arrested on suspicion of disturbing the peace and trespassing at Prairie Mesa Estates, 650 E. Second St.

10:51 p.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of violating a protection order that states he shall not possess or consume alcohol and a warrant at the U.S. Post Office, 35 S. Beech St.
