Thursday, April 13

5:08 a.m. A man in the 600 block of South Washington found his car door ajar and several items missing, including a wallet, a gym bag, headphones and a cellphone. The total estimate value of these items is $795.

11:26 a.m. A man at his sister’s home in the 500 block of South Madison Street was arrested on suspicion of violating a protection order that restricts him from possessing or consuming alcohol.

1:50 p.m. An officer served warrants to two women in custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

3:51 p.m. A woman in the Cortez Police Department lobby, 608 N. Park St., reported her credit card was being used fraudulently by someone using a return address in Long Beach, California.

Friday, April 14

1:47 a.m. A man driving in the 700 block of West Third Street hit a pedestrian crossing sign and dragged it along the median over 100 feet. He went home without reporting the crash. The man was cited with leaving a scene without providing information, failure to present proof of insurance, crossing a median in unlawful manner, criminal mischief and obstruction. The truck the man was driving was identified by the many pieces ripped off during the crash. The man used a police scanner while hiding in his shed to avoid contact with officers. The officers moved their vehicles out of sight and radioed they had left the area to lure the man out. They detained the man when he came out to greet his girlfriend.

7:35 a.m. A man at the Montezuma County Courthouse, 865 N. Park St., was arrested on a warrant.

10:37 a.m. A man in his car in the Walmart parking lot, 1835 E. Main St., was cited for trespassing.

10:51 a.m. A woman at Veterans Park, 830 E. Main St., was arrested on a warrant. During her arrest, 23 pills presumed to be fentanyl were found in her bag along with pipes and tinfoil. The woman claimed the pills were her boyfriend’s.

10:59 a.m. A man speeding and cutting off cars in the 1200 block of North Dolores Road was pulled over in the 600 block of North Dolores Road and cited for failure to present proof of insurance, speeding 61 mph in a 45 mph zone and possessing an open cannabis container in vehicle.

2:31 p.m. A woman who had recently broken up with her long-term partner noticed her credit card had been used at the Maverik gas station, 10223 U.S. Highway 491, and McDonald’s, 1322 E. Main St. The man stated he had permission to use the card. The woman denies the man had permission but decided to handle the issue without pursuing charges.

11:41 p.m. A woman punched another woman at Angel’s Endzone, 309 N. Broadway, and was cited for assault.

Saturday, April 15

10:07 a.m. A man in the 100 block of South Linden Street was arrested on suspicion of violating a protection order by being within 100 yards of Slaven’s Hardware, 237 W. Main St., and by consuming alcohol. The man was cited for underage drinking.

Sunday, April 16

11:39 a.m. A man at Veterans Park, 830 E. Main St., was arrested on a warrant and cited for violating a protection order that restricts him from possessing or consuming alcohol.

1:26 p.m. A woman at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., was arrested on a warrant.

Monday, April 17

12:29 p.m. A man who allegedly took items from Hibbett Sports, 215 S. Sligo St., Big R, 1319 E. Main St., and Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., was arrested near the Seventh Street Bridge on suspicion of shoplifting and trespassing. The man allegedly took hats from the Big R and Hibbett Sports and attempted to take speakers from Walmart.

1:11 p.m. A man in the 900 block of South Broadway was arrested on a warrant.

6:06 p.m. A woman in the 600 block of East Main Street was arrested on suspicion for DUI and violating a protection order. She was pulled over because she had sent a text the day saying she had been kidnapped. She did not have a driver's license.

8:16 p.m. An officer served two warrants to a woman in custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

9:25 p.m. A man who took a cart full of items from Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., was arrested in the Family Dollar parking lot, 324 S Broadway. During the arrest, 7 grams of meth was found in a bag. The man was cited for distribution of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving without insurance or a license and burglary.

Tuesday, April 18

7:33 p.m. A man who refused to leave the lawn outside of Best Western, 535 E. Main Ave., was arrested on suspicion of violating a protection order.

Wednesday, April 19

2:27 p.m. A man was cited for trespassing at Cortez Flooring, 1211 E. Main St.
