Thursday, Dec. 15

8:04 a.m., A woman outside of a building, 1011 N. Mildred Road, was reported to be in an altered mental state after she made claims that the president was inside the building, that people would not give her dog back and that she was God. An officer believed she was under the influence of meth and arrested her on suspicion of violating two protection orders that restrict her from possessing or consuming alcohol or controlled substances.

1:29 p.m., A man entered the Cortez Police Department lobby, 608 N. Park St., to make a report about not receiving his social security checks. He was arrested for a warrant and put in custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

Friday, Dec. 16

8:49 a.m., A man driving a truck with expired tag turned off Main Street onto South Silgo Street, where an officer pulled him over. He was arrested for a warrant and put in custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Drsicoll St.

10:43 a.m., A woman who lives in the 600 block of East Fourth Street reported that the neighbor’s dog have been barking and acting aggressively for an excessive amount of time. Ten calls regarding the dogs behavior have been prior to this report. The dogs’ owner was cited for maintenance of animals that disturb the peace.

5:56 p.m., A man driving south in the 200 block of North Broadway was pulled over in the 1000 block South Broadway for crossing the center line and not maintaining a consistent speed. He was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, driving without a valid license and failing to drive in a single lane.

Saturday, Dec. 17

4:46 a.m., A report was made for a fence and a mail box that had been run over in the 400 block of South Madison Street. A trail of car fluids led to another mailbox that had been run over in the 600 block of South Madison Street. The trail of car fluid led to an unoccupied van at the Sleeping Ute Apartments, 516 S. Madison St. At 8:30 p.m. the van was no longer at the apartments, and the man who owns of the van was being sought.

9:30 p.m., A man driving a truck was reported as a possible drunk driver. He was seen be an officer crossing the center line twice and was pulled over in the 300 block of West Main Street. He was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, driving without a valid license, failure to drive in a single lane and driving with an open container.

Sunday, Dec. 18

11:49 a.m., A man and a woman were reported attempting to shoplift from Walmart, 1835 E. Main St. The man was given an indefinite trespass order, and the woman was cited on suspicion of violating a trespass order. A man that was waiting in the parking lot for them was also cited on suspicion of violating a trespass order.

1:55 p.m., A woman at Happy Valley Trailer Park, 203 E. Seventh St., was reported to be having a mental health crisis. After being questioned by an officer, she was arrested for a warrant.

Monday, Dec. 19

2:23 a.m. A man reported that his house, car and driveway in the 500 block of South Market Street were vandalized with eggs and milk. The man believed the vandal to be the daughter of the woman he had broke up with the day before. The daughter was found at an apartment in the 600 block of East Empire Street where she admitted to drinking and was cited on suspicion of destroying private property and underage drinking.

8:37 a.m., A woman driving a car eastbound in the 400 block of West Main Street tried changing lanes and collided with a car that was in the other lane. She was cited for changing lanes when unsafe.

8:14 p.m., An officer served a man in custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., two warrants.

Tuesday, Dec. 20

3:16 p.m., A woman in the 500 block of West Main Street was seen in the passenger seat of a vehicle with a man driving. The man is the protected party for two restraining orders that she has against her. They stopped at Burger Boy, 520 W. Main St., and she was arrested for six warrants. She was also issued two summons on suspicion of violating a protection order.

5:42 p.m., A bush was reported on fire in the 400 block of North Mildred Road. Firefighters put out the fire, and no evidence of what started the fire was found.

6:10 p.m. A report of vandalism was made for a semitrailer that had run over a street sign near the intersection of Ash and Empire streets. The man driving the truck was pulled over in the dirt lot at the intersection of Kansas and Empire streets, where he was issued a penalty assessment for careless driving.

7:35 p.m., A man who was trespassed from St. Margaret Mary Church, 28 E. Montezuma Ave., was reported to have knocked over a tree in front of the church. He was cited on suspicion of trespassing.

Wednesday, Dec. 21

3:15 a.m., A gas station attendant at Speedway, 921 E. Main St., was assisting a man when he noticed a woman trying to take cigarettes from behind the counter. The man the attendant was helping drove off with the woman southbound on South Mildred Road.
