Dave Schertz of Silverton works on the front of the Grand Imperial Hotel in Silverton on Tuesday in preparation for the hotel’s grand re-opening on May 7. A company controlled by D&SNG owner Al Harper bought the hotel on Greene Street last year for $1.6 million. Harper has said it will not be a plush replication of the Strater Hotel. Instead it will reflect its history. “We were a frontier miners’ hotel with a lot of ruffians,” he said.
