Oh, the pathetic-ness, pettiness and spite of U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert. With all her crowing about liberty, she just can’t find it in herself to acknowledge the heroism of the Ukrainian people whose elected president spoke before us all last Wednesday night.

Those of us who back America’s historic support do acknowledge its costs in lives and treasure. We have no problem with oversight and accountability on military aid. After all, that’s how Sen. Harry Truman made his name during WWII, enough to be elevated to vice president. But performative hyperventilation and outrage has no place in serious governance, nor does Boebert’s publicly televised fanny sitting while the rest of a Joint Session of Congress rose to their feet 18 times (!) in recognition of the courage, strength and commitment of the Ukrainian people to their own liberty.

I’m surprised she sat. She was handed an R+15 district but only prevailed by 546 votes. You would think that would be a wake-up call, but she continues her embarrassing oppositional defiant disorder display nonetheless.

So what of the 163,842 voters who chose her? Hard to say for sure. President Abe Lincoln said, “You can fool some of the people all of the time.” Regardless, those of the 163,842 CD-3 voters who are secretly sick of the show will be welcomed with open arms by the rest of us, so we can address serious issues facing the U.S. (ahem, water) in a serious way from our different points of view.
