Petsense store in Durango to close

Employee says lack of sales are behind decision to shutter
The Petsense store located near Walmart in Durango is scheduled to close Dec. 22.

Durango’s Petsense outlet will close on Dec. 22.

Chris Romero, an employee at the Durango store, said a lack of sales led to the decision to close the outlet.

“With the lease coming up, the decision was to close the store,” Romero said.

The store at 1185 South Camino del Rio has seven employees.

The chain, headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona, has 180 stores across the country.

Currently, all pet food at the store is 20 percent off, and all other products are 40 percent off, Romero said.
