Parade of Lights gears up for a rockin’ good time

The 25th annual 4 Corners Board of Realtors Parade of Lights will be Dec. 6, 2014, at 6 p.m. on Main Street, Cortez. This years parade theme is “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.”

Everyone is invited to enter a float in the parade, or to make plans to spend the evening watching the parade. There are three entry categories – commercial, nonprofit, and other, with three prizes awarded for each of the three categories. The entries are judged on music and lights, creativity, theme development, and workmanship.

There is no entry fee for the parade, but an entry form must be submitted. Entry forms will be published in the Cortez Journal, picked up at Century 21 West Slope Realty, or by calling Terry McCabe at 970-565-8408 ext. 115, or emailing McCabe at terrymc@move2swcolo.com.

The parade of lights is held every year on the first Saturday in December and is sponsored by the 4 Corners Board of Realtors to give back to the communities we serve.

The Parade of Lights has grown each year, with upwards of 70 float entries, and is the kickoff to the holiday season.

The parade committee encourages all businesses, nonprofits, schools and clubs to participate. Each year, a grand marshal is selected to lead the parade in recognition of their contribution to our area and community support. This year’s grand marshal is Kinder Morgan.
