Owners of NAPA Auto Parts open a new location in Pleasant View

‘We’re really looking forward to supporting that little community,’ Owens says

The owners of NAPA Auto Parts in Cortez and Dolores are opening a new store in Pleasant View. Featuring a newly customized inventory, the store’s owners hope to serve the small community’s agricultural needs.

Jamie Daves and Jordan Owens got approval from NAPA before buying the store. The previous owners were ready for a new life adventure. “The location worked out perfectly,” Daves said.

Located at 26060 U.S. Highway 491 in Pleasant View, the store will celebrate its opening on Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Daves and Owens plan giveaways and door prizes, and the Chuckwagon will sell food from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

“We thought that there was a need for it, so we just decided to do it,” Daves told a Journal reporter about the opening. “It’s kind of a stand-alone heavy-duty store. It’s more agricultural-centered.”

Employees from the Cortez location have helped move inventory in and get the store set up. Daves and Owens hired a manager for the store, who is training in Cortez ahead of the opening.

“We did try to tailor our inventory to what we thought would be needed out there,” Daves said. The process involved lots of communication between them and Gates Corp., their partner in hydraulics.

Owens spent about four months customizing the inventory for the new store, starting with NAPA programs and working from there. The store holds every adapter from Gates’ hydraulic book, as well as the most common parts sold by NAPA.

“We’re still locally owned, third generation, here to support the community,” Daves said.
