One man dead after police-involved crash in Farmington

One man was pronounced dead after a crash involving two Farmington Police vehicles at 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, according to a police news release.

Spokeswoman Shanice Gonzales said in the news release at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday that “as a result of the incident, one adult male was pronounced deceased.” His identity was withheld pending notification of kin.

She did not share the location of the crash. Police at 12:38 a.m. posted on its Facebook page that officers were investigating a crash on Broadway and the area was closed from North Butler Avenue to North Scott Avenue. The roadway reopened at 7:09 a.m. April 14.

The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.

Updates will be provided as they become available, Gonzales said.

Farmington Police closed this area of Broadway shortly after 12:15 a.m. April 14, 2026, to investigate a crash. It remained closed until 7:09 a.m., after which Farmington Police issued a news release that two Farmington officers were involved in a fatal crash.
