Five local acts will perform Jan. 1 to raise money for a Mancos family whose home burned days before Christmas.

The event is scheduled from 2 to 6 p.m. at Columbine Bar & Grill, 123 Grand Ave. in Mancos. Attendees can donate to the Yake family by cash or electronically, including Venmo.

All proceeds will benefit the family, said Goathead member William Perritt.

“The event is going to benefit the family and raise money for whatever expenses that they have coming up,” Perritt told The Journal. “I do not know them, but this was something that, when the call went out so to speak, a lot of local musicians jumped in to try to put an event together.”

Performers include Goathead, High Desert Strays, Mark Gibson, Ben Kraftwerx and headliners Genuine Cowhide, which Perritt called “nitro country” and “country rock.”

“Our main goal is just as much money as we can for this family,” Perritt said. “It came together very fast and with a few hiccups, but we’ve got a really good sound engineer that’s going to be handling all the acts. He’s given his time and he’s the one that’s putting the most out there for this.”

The Yake family’s home on East Sunset Drive in Mancos burned Dec. 10, along with four vehicles. No injuries were reported, and the cause has not been released.
