On Saturday, the Montezuma County 4-H Shooting Sports hosted a “fun shoot” consisting of fun and entertaining events in archery, rifle and shotgun.

Participants came from Montezuma, La Plata, Moffat and Archuleta counties to test their skills and participate in the shoot. The fun shoot is an annual event, and 4-H shooting sports members are invited from around the Four Corners and across the state.

There archery classes consisted of junior recurve, junior compound unlimited and junior limited compound in the 21-target, 3D range.

The junior recurve champion was Coulter Weyand; reserve, Zye Kuenzler; and third place, Tyler Lindsay.

In the junior compound unlimited champion class, Paycen Sutherlin took the championship title. Brylee Sutherlin and Brayden Zabka of La Plata County finished reserve and third place, respectively.

Teagan Samora was champion in the junior limited compound, Zan Brown was reserve, and Hailee Martinez was third.

Rifle competitors tested their skills in games that included shooting suckers, spinning targets and traditional paper targets.
