The Montezuma-Cortez RE-1 school district has been invited to the Colorado Department of Education’s School and District Awards Ceremony on May 16.
The event, hosted by CDE Commissioner Susana Córdova, is 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Hydro Confluence Theater on the Colorado State University campus in Denver.
The ceremony will honor schools and districts for their 2023 and 2024 achievements in categories including Centers of Excellence, John Irwin School of Excellence, Governor’s Distinguished Improvement Award and Academic Growth Award. Districts that are accredited with distinction, ranking in the top 10% statewide with more than 80% of points on the district performance framework, will also be recognized.
Awards are based on performance indicators that include academic achievement, growth, reduction of academic growth gaps and postsecondary and workforce readiness. The event will conclude with light refreshments, photos and banner distribution for an hour starting at 11 a.m.
