Montezuma-Cortez High School, in partnership with the School Community Youth Collaborative, will welcome incoming freshmen to learn about the importance of the transition into ninth grade from 8:30 to 2 p.m. Aug. 4-6.

Multiple precautions are set up to protect against virus spread, such as a mask a requirement and dividing the students by last name.

Last names starting A-G should attend Aug. 4, last names H-O should attend Aug. 5, and last names P-Z should attend Aug. 6. Lunch will be included, and the whole event is free, thanks to the 21st Century Grant.

Freshman orientation is designed to highlight the various support systems in place for a new high school student. Orientation will cover class schedules and graduation requirements, various programs offered to help keep students on track and a Q&A panel with upperclassmen.
