The Montezuma-Cortez School District will host a forum for candidates Thursday, Oct. 16, 6-8 p.m. at the Montezuma County Annex, 107 N. Chestnut St., to allow parents, guardians and community members to meet the school board candidates and hear why they are running.
Elected members will join Mike Lynch (District G). Paul Beckler (District B) is not seeking reelection, and board President Sheri Noyes (District F) will be term-limited in November.
The candidates for District A are Lara Maria Blair and Tiffany Cheney. Barbara Mate is the only candidate for District B, and Leland Collins, a current board member, and Dr. Joshua Shumway are vying for the seat in District D.
Three candidates are running for one seat in each of the remaining two districts. District E candidates are Justine Bayles, Zane Kuenzler and Ed Rice, a current board member. District F’s candidates are Ricky Carver, Laura DeWitt and Erik Quiroz.
The event, organized in collaboration with the League of Women Voters of Montezuma County, will feature an introduction to the candidates followed by a question-and-answer session.
The public is encouraged to attend.
