Midas Auto Service has opened at 244 E. Main St. in Cortez.

The business is a full-service auto maintenance shop, offering everything from oil changes to tire installations, owner Cody Dennison said in an email.

“We have been servicing vehicles in Cortez close to ten years now, and we wanted to expand the business in a way that would be beneficial to the local community,” Dennison said.

The shop is open now, and a larger grand opening event will be held in the spring, Dennison said. The staff includes Automotive Service Excellence-certified technicians, he said.

Lubesters Quicklube, which occupies the same building next door to Midas, will merge and the two shops will become one business, Dennison said.

Other services that Midas will offer include brakes repair, light and heavy automotive repairs, preventative maintenance, exhaust and muffler repairs, air conditioning and heating, steering and suspension, batteries and diagnostics, Dennison said.

“A ‘we do everything’ shop is something that many of our loyal customers have requested over the years and I felt it was time to move forward with the idea, and Midas was the perfect fit,” he said.
