Last Thursday, the Library Board and I were blessed with a visit from Philip Walters, Treasurer of the Mancos Masonic Lodge No. 100 A.F. & A.M, who presented the library with a $1,000 check from the Masons in memory of devoted and longtime member of the Masonic Lodge, Steve Hawkins.

Steve's unexpected passing in December left the community reeling. He was a respected and beloved lifelong resident of Mancos, and touched many hearts and minds during his years as music teacher at Manaugh Elementary School and Shiprock Consolidated School District. His sense of humor, passion for life and dedication to the Mancos community will be greatly missed.

The Library Board and I would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Steve, and we thank the Mancos Masonic Lodge for the annual donation in his name. The donation will be used to buy books and materials for the library that will honor Steve's life and reflect his many passions and interests.
