The Second Annual Mancos Turkey Shoot, sponsored by the Mancos Valley Historical Society, is scheduled for Nov. 5.
The event will begin at 9:30 a.m., weather permitting, at the Simmons gravel pit, two miles west of Mancos on U.S. Highway 160. The prize for each relay of shooters is a free turkey.
Each relay will have nine shooters, with one turkey winner for each relay. Only 10-gauge shotguns will be used. People under 18 years old can shoot if accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Proceeds from the event will go to a new historical museum, which is in the planning stages in Mancos. The Dolores State Bank is a corporate sponsor of this event.
