The Mancos Public Library hosted its second Holiday Toy Swap on Nov. 13 and 14, offering parents and guardians free exchanges of gently used toys for Christmas gifts.
The two-day event drew strong attendance with 22 adults, said Youth Services Manager and Children’s Librarian Erin Bohm. After the swap, remaining toys were donated to Renew: Breaking the Cycle of Domestic Violence, a Montezuma County nonprofit that helps survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse.
“Two large boxes of high quality toys were donated to Renew, allowing Renew to offer their own ‘Come Wrap A Christmas Gift!’ event to shelter patrons,” Bohm said.
Participants were able to wrap gifts on site at the library. Each person could bring one box of toys and take an equivalent number in return. Donated items had to be clean, complete, functional and in excellent condition.
The swap aimed to ease holiday financial pressure for families. The event was for adults only.
