Mancos watercolor artist Jan Wright announces an exhibit of original paintings from illustrations in her book “Encounters with Nature” at Mancos Public Library through October.

Wright’s book, available at Artisans of Mancos and ZU Gallery in Cortez, consists of 25 short stories of her experiences with animals, birds, butterflies, trees, and stones and how they influenced her spiritual enlightenment.

Wright will read from her book the story “Hummingbird Heart Blessings” and sign purchases Saturday, Oct. 8, 2 to 4 p.m. at the library, according to a news release.

Wright has lived in Southwest Colorado for more than 14 years, was accepted into Artisans of Mancos, and had an exhibit at Far View Lodge at Mesa Verde that lasted six years, the news release said. She was artist-in-residence there in October of 2012 and then coordinated the program for three years.

She has had more than 40 one-woman exhibits in Utah, Texas, New Mexico and Colorado.
