Mesa Verde National Park lifts fire restrictions

Mesa Verde National Park has lifted fire restrictions which have been in effect since July 22, 2014.

Superintendent Cliff Spencer said recent rain has limited fire danger.

Open fires or charcoal fires are no longer prohibited in Morefield Campground, Chapin Mesa Picnic Area or park residences.

"If the fire danger increases later in the season, restrictions may once again be implemented," stated Chief Ranger Farias.
