Local nurse practitioner joins Cortez Integrated Healthcare, now accepting new patients

Stephanie Higgins was raised in Montezuma County

Cortez Integrated Healthcare has welcomed board-certified family nurse practitioner and longtime Montezuma County resident Stephanie Higgins to the clinic’s primary care team. Higgins is accepting new patients.

According to information provided to The Journal by Cortez Integrated Healthcare, Higgins grew up in Montezuma County and is raising her family there. She provides comprehensive primary care services for patients of all ages, including preventive care, wellness exams, chronic condition management, women’s health, sick visits and coordinated care.

“This is home for me,” said Higgins. “I grew up here, I’m raising my family here, and I’m committed to helping my neighbors stay healthy at every stage of life. I’m excited to deliver high-quality, compassionate care close to where people live and work.”

The clinic, located on Empire Street across from Osprey, is a full-service health center. In addition to primary care, it offers behavioral health counseling, dental services, an on-site pharmacy, crisis walk-in support and referrals.

Cortez Integrated Healthcare accepts most major insurance plans, including Medicaid, Medicare and a wide range of private carriers. For uninsured individuals or those with financial constraints, the facility’s Sliding Fee Discount Program adjusts charges based on household income and family size.

“Stephanie’s deep local roots and clinical expertise make her an exceptional addition to our team,” Axis’s Cortez Operations Director Adonna Cole said. “She makes it easy for people to get the care they need quickly and comfortably, focusing on what's best for each patient.”
