Local contractors invited to annual CDOT event

The Journal

The Colorado Department of Transportation and with the Colorado Contractors Association and Connect2DOT invite area contractors and subcontractors to an informational session about planned construction work in Region 5, Southwest Colorado.

This annual “project opportunities” event will be held Friday, Nov. 3 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the CDOT Region 5 Maintenance Facility, at 20581 U.S. Highway 160, in Durango.

The event is open to contractors and subcontractors interested doing business with CDOT and other agencies, according to a news release from CDOT communications manager Lisa Schwantes. Engineers and representatives from CDOT will discuss upcoming projects in Southwest Colorado. Representatives from the La Plata-Archuleta Water District, the cities of Durango and Cortez, and Cortez Sanitation also will be there.

“This is a great opportunity for contractors and subcontractors to get a head start on marketing and networking efforts,” said CDOT Civil Rights Specialist, Kelly Whaley. “We’ll also have a discussion about CDOT’s ADA (Americans with Disabilities) Transition Plan, changes to specifications and upcoming projects exclusive to ESB’s (Emerging Small Businesses).”

Lunch will be served, sponsored by Connect2DOT, CDOT’s partnering agency for small business development. Registration is required.
