Competing against some of Colorado’s best club swimmers at the Senior State Meet in Denver, Cortez Leopard Sharks’ team members Ryan Cutrone and Tyler Cutrone held their own and posted personal best times.

Among the solid performances from 17-year-old Ryan Cutrone was a 56th-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:06.17. Ryan also cracked the Top 75 in the 200-yard individual medley with a 73rd-place finish (2:11.76).

Other swims for Ryan Cutrone included an 84th-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (1:02.75), a 92nd-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (1:58.47) a 125th-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (53.41) and a 129th-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (24.35).

All of Ryan Cutrone’s swims took place in the 15 and older age division.

Standing out among 16-year-old Tyler Cutrone’s swims was a 61st-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.79). Tyler Cutrone also cracked the Top 100 in the 200-yard individual medley, where he finished 82nd (2:15.36) and the 100-yard backstroke, where he placed 85th (1:02.92).

Other swims for Tyler Cutrone included a 136th-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (56.05) and a 136th-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (24.64). Like his older brother, Ryan Cutrone, Tyler Cutrone competed in the boys 15-and-older age division.

Although the Leopard Sharks did not score any points as a team and did not place in the team standings, head coach Justin Racer expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance, writing in an email to The Journal that “both swimmers had a great meet and amazing results.”

With the winter meet season now behind them, both Ryan and Tyler Cutrone will return to the practice pool, along with teammates, to prepare for spring meets that will begin in April of this year.
