Lecture to discuss Ansel Hall collection

Benjamin DuMontier, 2017-18 Center of Southwest Studies doctoral fellow, will give a presentation about the Ansel Hall collection at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Center of Southwest Studies Lyceum Room at Fort Lewis College, 1000 Rim Drive.

Hall was the first chief naturalist and forester for the National Park Service. DuMontier will present findings from the Hall collection and discuss what it means for researchers, including expeditions to Costa Rica, Boy Scout recruitment and the nature-park resource development in Rainbow Bridge and Monument Valley areas.

DuMontier is the center’s resident doctoral fellow for Southwest history and a history professor at the college. His presentation is titled “From Rainbow Bridge to Durango War Rations: Researching and Archiving Local History in the Four Corners Area.”

This lecture is free and open to all.
