Lamp Post Creative Learning Center in Cortez has announced its 2026-27 theater season, with the first show set to open in October.
The season opener will be a performance of Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein,” marking the director debut of Lily Sandner, daughter of Lamp Post founders Nicholaus and Corinne Sandner, according to information from Lamp Post.
Performances are scheduled for Oct. 23, 24, 30 and 31. Auditions for high school-age performers through adults will be held Aug. 25 at Lamp Post’s location, 32171 U.S. Highway 160 in Cortez at 6:30 p.m.
In February 2027, Lamp Post will present Gilbert and Sullivan’s comedy operetta “The Pirates of Penzance” as an adults-and-youth combined-cast musical. Show dates are Feb. 12, 13, 19, 20, 26 and 27. Auditions open to all ages are set for Tuesday, Nov. 17.
June brings Ken Ludwig’s “Moriarty,” a Sherlock Holmes mystery, in which five actors play 40 roles. Performances are planned for June 4, 5, 11, 12, 18 and 19, 2027. Auditions for adults only are listed for March 16.
The season closes with the third annual Kids Summer Theatre Camp in July 2027, featuring the Magic Tree House musicals “Dinosaurs Before Dark” and “Pirates Past Noon.” Camp runs July 5-17, with performances July 16 and 17.
Lamp Post is still working to reach its capital campaign goal of $500,000. Funds will be used to purchase the buildings and property utilized by Lamp Post but owned by Rock Springs Church. Details and donation information are available at lamppostclc.org/donate.
