James Potter to discuss preservation efforts at Ute Tribal Park

The Journal

As a part of the Four Corners Lecture Series, the Hisatsinom Chapter of the Colorado Archaeology Society will present James Potter on July 3 at 7 p.m. at the Methodist Church, 515 Park St. in Cortez.

Potter, Ph.D., will discuss “Photogrammetry and Beyond: Recent Preservation Efforts at the Ute Tribal Park,” a collaborative project of the Ute Mountain Ute THPO and PaleoWest Archaeology. In the project, participants record and conduct condition assessments of a number of large sites in the Ute Mountain Tribal Park using photogrammetry to create detailed maps and 3-D models.
