In latest outbreak, 12 test positive at Vallecito Baptist Church

Sonic, Pizza Hut and Highway 3 Roadhouse also report cases

Several new outbreaks of COVID-19 cases were reported this week in La Plata County, notably at Vallecito Baptist Church where 12 attendees recently tested positive.

As of Thursday at Four Corners Health Care Center, 92 residents and 55 staff members were reported to have the virus, and 12 residents have died since the outbreak was first reported in November, according to San Juan Basin Public Health.

At the Hilltop House outbreak, 25 residents and six staff members have tested positive, with one reported death.

Every Wednesday, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment updates its list of outbreaks across the state. An outbreak is defined as two or more cases, transmitted within a workplace, in a 14-day period.

This week’s new outbreaks include:

Highway 3 Roadhouse, where an outbreak was confirmed Dec. 12 after two staff members tested positive.Pizza Hut, where an outbreak was confirmed Dec. 8 after two staff members tested positive.Sonic, where an outbreak was confirmed Dec. 15 after three staff members tested positive.Vallecito Baptist Church, where an outbreak was confirmed Nov. 25 after 12 attendees tested positive.Previously reported, but still active outbreaks include:

North City Market, Durango 911 Communications Center, Durango Transit Center, East by Southwest, Enterprise Rental, Evening’s Porch Assisted Living, Nayarit north and south, Rivergate Pharmacy, Ska Fabricating, Steamworks Brewing Co., Home Depot, Tomsic Physical Therapy and Zia Taqueria south.
