If you don’t like livestock, leave Mancos

The March 15 story in The Journal regarding keeping livestock in the town of Mancos really got me fired up! Most of the residents have lived here all their lives as have their families. How long have Becker, Cook, and Looman lived here? If they are fairly new residents did they realize before they moved to Mancos that it is an agricultural community with cows, ranchers, farmers, cowboys and all different kinds of livestock? I personally enjoy watching Will Stone and his cow, calf and dog walking down the roads. They are one of a kind. So what if there are a few “cow plops?” I’m sure the tourists enjoy it as much as I do and stop to take pictures just like they do when there is a cattle drive through town or on the highway. This is what our community is all about. Why are people always trying to change things to suit themselves? If you don’t like the smell, then get out of Dodge and move back to a big city or from whence you came. Don’t try to change things that have been here, accepted and enjoyed for over 100 years.
