A head-on crash temporarily closed northbound lanes of traffic Thursday afternoon on north Main Avenue near 25th Street.

The crash occurred about noon.

One car had been removed as of 12:45 p.m., and Durango Police Department officers closed both lanes of northbound traffic when a tow truck arrived to remove the second vehicle – which had severe front-end damage and air bags that deployed.

DPD spokeswoman Amanda Garrison was not immediately able to provide details on the crash as of 1:30 p.m., including whether anyone was injured. She said traffic was reopened about 1:10 p.m. when the car was towed.

It was at least the third crash Thursday in city limits. About 9 a.m. a blue pickup rolled onto its side on Florida Road near the intersection with 15th Street and East Third Avenue. Shortly before that, a T-bone crash occurred near 32nd Street and Holly Avenue, involving a city vehicle.
