It was with great sadness that I read that Havran’s is closing its doors after 70 years (Journal, Jan. 19).

I have done business with Bernard and his family since 1975 and have always been impressed with their quality of service. I’ve been a master at getting stains in clothes, and Bernard has been a master of getting them out!

In addition, over the years, Bernard graciously allowed me to bring hundreds of my Home Economics students to the shop to learn about his operation and get tips on caring for their clothes – a real world experience and a perk for students that you only find in small communities!

I congratulate you on your retirement, Bernard, and know that you will enjoy having more time to travel and spend with family and friends, but I want you to know that you will be greatly missed.
