Cold War Patriots, a non-profit organization, has organized six town hall meetings to inform the community on issues that may affect former uranium workers. Two meetings will be held Tuesday, June 25, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Cortez Conference Center at KoKo’s, 2121 E. Main.
Other meetings are scheduled for Blanding on June 26 and Moab on June 27.
Cold War Patriots will provide information regarding potential benefits to former uranium workers. The benefits available for those who qualify may include payments of up to $400,000 through the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA) and the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA). Other benefits include access to no-cost medical care, prescriptions, in-home nursing and more. The details of the EEOICPA and RECA program changes and steps to apply for benefits and compensation will also be discussed.
