The Fort Lewis College Board of Trustees will have some new faces come 2017.

Gov. John Hickenlooper appointed Dianne Pacheco-Van Voorhees and Richard Kaufman to fill the seats vacated by Chairwoman Karen Wilde and Trustee Tom Schilling. Trustee Ernest J. House Jr. was appointed to a second term.

Pacheco-Van Voorhees is a graduate of Durango High School and Fort Lewis College, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in political science in 1995. She studied law at the University of Colorado School of Law, where she earned her law degree.

A resident of Arvada, she operates a law office in Broomfield. Pacheco-Van Voorhees also serves as a relief judge with the Arvada Municipal Court. In the past, she worked with North American Indian Legal Services, Inc. as a staff attorney for the American Indian Juvenile Justice and Advocacy Project.

Kaufman lives in Centennial and works with the law firm of Ryley Carlock & Applewhite in Denver. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Indiana State University and a law degree from Emory University.

Kaufman served as a deputy attorney general for Colorado for seven years before becoming an assistant U.S. attorney. In 2010, Gov. Bill Ritter appointed him to the Colorado Commission on Higher Education, where he served two terms as a commissioner.

The Colorado Senate is slated to vote to confirm the appointments in January.
