General Surgeon Dennis Lewis, M.D., has joined Southwest Health System.

Board-certified in general surgery, Lewis joins Southwest Medical Group Specialty Care part-time, providing diverse and extensive laparoscopic surgery experience, including vasectomies and advanced procedures, in partnership with Dr. Kevin Matteson.

Lewis has spent his career in small towns, including 13 years in Riverton, Wyoming, and five years in Vernal, Utah. He built a bariatric program in which he has a part-time practice. He completed his residency at the University of South Carolina, Greenville, and graduated medical school from the University of Florida.

Lewis also has volunteered with Doctors without Borders in the Dominican Republic, Zambia, Afghanistan, Nigeria and South Sudan.

He is returning to Colorado after moving to Florida to help his parents. In his free time, he enjoys cycling.
