Fundraisers planned to support Aztec families

A candlelight vigil was held Dec. 7 in Aztec after two high school students were killed in a shooting at Aztec High School.

An all-day community gathering and fundraiser to support the families that lost children in the recent Aztec High School shooting will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Historic Aztec Theater, 104 North Main Ave., in Aztec.

The event will feature 15 to 20 bands from the Four Corners and surrounding areas that will perform live music for free throughout the day. Numerous restaurants and businesses have donated food, which will be sold to benefit Aztec families experiencing loss.

Admission is free, and the event is open to all and alcohol-free.

Donations are encouraged. Proceeds from donations and food sales will go to families suffering after the shootings at Aztec High School. For more information, email theaztectheater@yahoo.com.

San Juan College also plans a fundraiser at 5101 College Blvd. in Farmington from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will feature a silent auction, vendors and food from Outback Steakhouse for families, first responders and Aztec High School teachers and staff. Action Moto Shop will also offer free oil changes and inspections for off-road vehicles all day.
