The eighth annual Mancos Valley Summer BrewFest, held Aug. 16 at Mancos Brewing Co., raised more than $16,000 for Mancos Valley Resources and the Pay It Forward Fund. Organized by mancos Brewing and Mancos Valley Resources, the event brought the community together for live music, local food and beverages.
Proceeds benefited Mancos Valley Resources and the Pay It Forward Fund. MVR, fiscal sponsor for 13 grassroots organizations in the Mancos Valley, will use its share for rent, tax preparation, supplies and partial salary for its administrator. PIFF, run by volunteers, offers financial aid to residents facing medical emergencies or personal hardship.
Spearheaded by Kathy Hands, owner of Mancos Brewing Co., the festival featured performances by Goathead, a Montezuma County-based roots quintet, along with Midnight Cowboy and Throwback Swing. Beverages were served by Mancos Brewing Co., Carvers Brewery, Anarchy Brewery and Fenceline Cidery.
The Mancos Public Library hosted a children’s activity area. Educational booths, vendors and a silent auction showcased local goods and artwork.
