Friday fundraising event to benefit LGBTQ youth

Rainbow Youth Center will hold third spring benefit

The third annual spring benefit for Four Corners Rainbow Youth Center will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday at the Powerhouse Science Center, 1333 Camino del Rio.

Four Corners Rainbow Youth Center offers a safe, nonjudgmental and visible space for youths in the community who identify as LGBTQ with the goal to demystify stereotypes and empower families, allies and others through education. The spring fundraiser is held each year to support services and resources provided by the youth center.

The event will feature music by Caitlin Cannon of the Cannon Dolls and Denae Stucka-Benally; food from Durangourmet, Bread and Cream Bean Berry; a cash bar; and silent auction.

Donations for the silent auction were given by: Durango Outdoor Exchange, Ore House, Bookcase and Barber, Durango Community Recreation Center, Artesanos Design Collection, Fried Up Artisan Pizza, Spaaah Shop, Durango Dermatology, Yoga Durango, The Sweaty Budda, Yamuna Body Rolling, Trimble Spa and Natural Hot Springs, Maria’s Bookshop, Spa Evo Durango, local artisans and photographers, and more.

The fundraiser is open to ages 21 and older.

Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door, available online at www.rainbowyouthcenter.org/events or at Maria’s Bookshop, 960 Main Ave.

Four Corners Rainbow Youth Center provides resources to allow LGBTQ youth and allies to direct and develop peer-led educational and recreational activities for youths ages 13-18.
