‘Former Party of Personal Responsibility has fallen’

One recent letter writer carries on the great GOP tradition of – ahem – “misspeaking” when defending his Mango Messiah from the natural consequences of his actions.

He blames Democrats for “waging lawfare” and maliciously attempting to keep The Former Guy from the Colorado ballot. What he forgot to mention was that four of the six petitioners in the Colorado case were, in fact, Republicans. There was a trial, featuring 30 hours of evidentiary hearings, and Donald Trump was found guilty of engaging in an insurrection against the U.S. government. The decision was upheld by the Colorado Supreme Court and the Trump was banished from the ballot.

As to what the letter writer calls “continuous and spurious legal actions” against his soiled hero, who was convicted of sex abuse, he’s referring to 91 counts contained in four indictments, in four independent jurisdictions, federal and state. All brought by citizen grand juries. Instead, the letter writer considers Trump’s troubles to be the well-earned wages of lifetime of crime.

You want to talk corruption, let’s talk about the Supremely Corrupt Court of the United States. How “conservative” justices take what amount to bribes from people who, coincidentally, became the their best friends just before they had business before the court. Looking at you, Clarence. And Sam. Consider the Republican who helped break the Senate and SCOTUS, “Glitch” McConnell, the reanimated corpse who ignored the rules and packed the court with right-wing ideologues.

How far the former Party of Personal Responsibility has fallen!
