For Pets’ Sake Humane Society will hold its 16th annual Cortez Turkey Trot fundraiser on Thanksgiving Day.

Registration starts at 9 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 28, at the Parque de Vida Pavilion behind the Cortez Recreation Center, 425 Roger Smith Ave. The 1-mile fun run/walk for people and their pets starts at 10 a.m., regardless of the weather.

The entry fee is $20 and includes a commemorative T-shirt. Costumes for all are encouraged. Prizes will be awarded for fastest people and pets, best costume, best-coordinated costumes, best pet trick, most unusual pet to cross the finish line and many other categories.

All proceeds benefit the Humane Society and its work to assist the dogs and cats in Montezuma and Dolores counties.
