DENVER – With the closing remarks to the 2025-26 athletic calendar, CHSAA picked out the top performers from the spring schedule as part of their all-state selections for track and field, girls soccer and girls golf. As has become a custom, athletes from Montezuma and Dolores counties came away with their fair share of the spoils, with 11 different athletes across the three different sports earning recognition.
After another scintillating season for head coach Melody Harris’ team earned the Panthers another league title and postseason berth, the high-powered M-CHS offense got their due in the CHSAA all-state honorees, as the Panthers top two scorers earned honorable mention selections in the 3A classification.
Sophomores Mia Glazner and Kyndall Schmitt lit up the nets this spring to the tune of 53 combined goals and 16 assists for an M-CHS program that averaged nearly five goals per contest.
The honor is the second in the young career for Glazner, while Schmitt collected her first selection for her on-pitch exploits. All-state athletes were voted on by coaches from across the state after nominations emerging from each league in the state’s four soccer classifications.
Panther seniors Amita Crowley and Afton Unrein became regulars atop the leader boards of virtually every competition they entered over the course of their careers – particularly so in the final campaign. After scoring regularly in the low 80s and 90s, both Crowley and Unrein secured their fourth trip in four tries to the state championship tournament.
With both golfers capping their careers with their best state finish in that span, Crowley picked up her third all-state selection, while Unrein took home her first courtesy of a pair of top-20 finishes in the 2A championships.
The top-10 state finishers earned first team, while the athletes placing 11th through 20th took second team honors.
Southwest Colorado athletes made their stamp on the state championship meet in Lakewood, with plenty of podium finishes earning all-state selections. M-CHS junior Trey Hall collected the biggest prize in the group, taking home a state title and a first team selection as the lone Panther to earn all-state recognition.
Three Mancos athletes landed all-state honors, led by first-teamer Jonah Ritter by virtue of his runner-up finish in the 200 meters, while freshman Tymbri Priestley burst onto the scene on the 2A second team with her sprinting prowess, and senior Destiny Kramer added another all-state nod to her resume with an honorable mention selection in the high jump.
Dolores senior Michael Rantz closed out his career on the second team in the 2A, as well, while Bears sophomore Joseph Padilla claimed an honorable mention recognition for his podium finish in the 2-mile. Dove Creek senior Mason Forst also enjoyed his first all-state selection as an honorable mention recipient in the 1A 3,200 meters.
Top nine individual athletes and top three relays determined all-state rankings in track and field, with first, second and third-place individuals taking first team honors.
